i can't watch movies

hi, thanks for passing by.
my problem is that i have a windows 2000 , and i have a cd r. i can listen to audio cds but when i bring a movie the cd dosn't recognise it. my friend has the same computer but he can watch movies, so what is i miss here.
could u help me.

Do you find the same problem when tryimg to play a mmovie from your hard disk
Do you have the latest version of a suitable codec software

yes i have the same problem when i try to play a movie from the hard desk.
and i have k lite codec pack.

Can u be more specific about the problem u have
what exactly is happening when u try to watch a movie

when i put a dvd on the drive the driver don't recognise the dvd and says please insert a cd.
also with the sound when i try to play an audio file it play the music too fast

try windows 98 or ME & see if u still have the problem
